Ahlan Wasahlan, Welcoming our new brothers and sisters!

On 16 December 2014, Mitrans Colloquium was held at I Learn center, it is in new format. Unlike our past colloq this time no paper were required, this time we just need to present our current progress to panels and supervisors. So everybody prepared their work the best they can. Part timers from all over Malaysia gathered in this day and probably the best day  for all PG to do some catching up.  However, in this colloq only Dr Sariwati showed up as panel, supported by Dr Zaharah, Elma and Farizan. Well it is end of year, probably everybody is busy with datelines and projects.. It is also the first time the new students joining in. To me the content probably a bit intense for newbies, it's like a sprint at the beginning of your workout. Anyway the colloq- as we call is an ok event, although it don't really achieved it's main objective where supervisors and panels sit down an assess the progress (as mentioned by organizers), it end up as the student checking out their friends work, we actually have planned a specific program for that one and yup no harm checking all this out multiple times.

Adi Aizat Yajid (2014) ASEAN CROSS BORDER SEAMLESS RAIL FREIGHT MOVEMENTS’ PHYSICAL BARRIERS: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY.

ABSTRACT
This paper aims to discuss the physical barriers, which hinder the seamless cross border rail freight movements in ASEAN mainland. In the cross border rail freight movements’ area of study, there are limited resources of literature review pertaining the subject matter. Nevertheless, the official agreements of transportation of ASEAN, such as 2010 Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity, 2005 ASEAN Framework Agreement on Multimodal Transport and 1998 ASEAN Framework Agreement on the Facilitation of Goods in Transit, had provided some goods information, although not so much, regarding the said barriers. Thus, the main data for this particular paper had been gained through the experience of the
stakeholders.

Moreover, this paper discussed briefly on the rating system for green highway by highlighting various eight (8) rating system for green highway.

Practical implications: As the highway system mellows in Malaysia, it is crucial to give an accentuation on improving the transportation strategies of highway construction that covers the green aspects to give an invasive movement to the government policies, create societal benefits and improve the economy since highway system is having a strong interconnection to all alternative modes of transportation.

However in Malaysia, initiatives and effort are only focussing on the green building projects. Therefore, it is essentials to be able to quantify the importance of green highway rating system and green highway initiatives in order to minimize the pollution to the environment and improve the environment, zero or low green house emission, safe highway for use, promotes healthy, conserve the energy usage and natural resources and finally promotes the use of renewable resources. Telur Belado

It's true indeed the hardest question to be answered is: Where we'll have our lunch?
Our third hot spot is somewhere in kampung kuantan klang, a deep isolated location treasuring obscure recipe for your lunchhunting needs. Zul have pioneered this location since his degree study and shared it with the mitrans PG, academically we've analyzed the business culture here and concluded that; most malay business are fear of trying different recipe or what Dr Nash termed as "penjual goreng pisang" (fried banana stalls) , why? it's obvious that around 200 radius you'll see most of restaurant here are selling telur belado, except the next stall which is much more popular with their asam pedas claypot (perhaps we should try this pretty soon) the location is about 20 - 30 minutes drive from UiTM backdoor across Padang Jawa. The cost per plate is about RM5 bucks, and Zul reccomended this dished to be paired with a mindblowing extrajoss. Some of you might hate eggs, yeah telur belado is an egg oriented food, and it's hot, the hotter the better. No worries you can still order other stuff. I've never tried any other dishes but looking at Adi (he don't really go for telur belado) i guess it don't really achieve his specs. Well not a bad place at all, you should give a try.
